Jamie Callachor Eureka Prize for Medical Research

The NSW Office for Science and Medical Research Eureka Prize is sponsored by the NSW Office for Science and Medical Research and is named in memory of Jamie Callachor, a valued colleague who passed away unexpectedly in 2005. Jamie Callachor was a respected and dedicated member of OSMR who made a significant contribution to science, biotechnology and medical research in NSW.

The Jamie Callachor Eureka Prize for Medical Research, part of the prestigious Australian Museum Eureka Prizes, is designed to encourage and reward emerging medical researchers. In 2009, this prize was awarded for research into the health impacts of climate change. See the Eureka Prize for Medical Research page on the Australian Museum web site for further information about this award.

About the Australian Museum Eureka Prizes

The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes reward outstanding achievements in Australian science. The prizes are awarded in four categories: Research, Leadership and Innovation, Education, and Science Communication. The prizes are judged by scientific experts and most carry a cash reward of $10,000.

Since they began in 1990, the Australian Museum Eureka Prizes have become Australia's premier science awards and the country's largest single national award scheme for research into critical environmental and sustainability issues facing Australia.
