Spinal Exchange Program
The Spinal Exchange Program is a collaborative initiative of the NSW Office for Science and Medical Research, the WorkCover Authority of NSW and the NSW Motor Accidents Authority. It enables internationally renowned clinicians, practitioners or clinical researchers to take up a Visiting Fellowship for a period of 1 to 6 months. Commencing in 2004, $600,000 has been committed over three years (up to $200,000 per year) towards the program. The main focus of the Fellowship is on educational and developmental initiatives that will:
- Facilitate communication in NSW about leading techniques, treatments and therapies that will improve the rehabilitation, long-term care and everyday health and quality of life of people with spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions and their ability to maintain independent living within the community.
- Assist in the integration of those techniques, treatments and therapies to further position NSW as a centre of excellence for research, rehabilitation, care and clinical practice for spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions.
