Spinal Exchange Program Consumer Forum
As part of Associate Professor Edelle Field-Fote's Visiting Fellowship for the 2007 Spinal Exchange Program, the NSW Office for Science and Medical Research held a public forum on "Recovery, Regeneration, Restoration: The Frontiers of Spinal Cord Injury Research" on 17 August 2007 in the Parkside 110A Room, Darling Harbour Convention Centre, Sydney. Speakers included:
- Associate Professor Edelle Field-Fote - task practice training and the development of functional electrical stimulation methods for building optimal movement and sensation in people with spinal cord injury;
- Dr James Middleton - establishment of the Australasian Spinal Cord Injury Network (ASCIN);
- Associate Professor Philip Siddall - pain management after spinal cord injury;
- Mr David Prast - presentation on Project Walk, which aims to provide an improved quality of life for people with spinal cord injuries through intense exercise-based recovery programs, education, support and encouragement.
