Medical Research

Cancer Institute NSW
The NSW Cancer Institute was created by the NSW Government in July 2003 to guide the cancer control effort in NSW and enhance its effectiveness. The Institute supports and commissions cancer research, enhances prevention and early detection programs, commission's innovative cancer treatment programs, and develops cancer education and information programs. The Cancer Institute works closely with MSMR to ensure its research programs are consistent with NSW Government policy and strategy.

Clinical Trials NSW
The NSW Clinical Trials Business Development Centre (ClinicalTrialsNSW), an initiative of the NSW Government, is the first point of contact for sponsors and researchers wishing to find out more about what Sydney and regional NSW, Australia can offer for clinical development. ClinicalTrialsNSW performs the function of a resource centre and assists with the placement of trials in NSW by connecting sponsors with the clinical research community.

NSW Health
NSW Health is responsible for ensuring that the people of NSW are provided with the best possible health care. NSW Health monitors the performance of the NSW public health system and supports the statutory role of the NSW Minister for Health. It is responsible for the state's public health organisations including Area Health Services, the Ambulance Service of NSW, and the Institute for Clinical Excellence.

Science

NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change
The NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change was formed on 27 April 2007 and is tasked with managing the state's natural resources, including biodiversity, soils and natural vegetation, managing natural and cultural heritage across the state's land and waters, acting to minimise the impacts of climate change, promoting sustainable consumption, resource use and waste management, regulating activities to protect the environment, and conducting biodiversity, plant, environmental and cultural heritage research to improve decision making.

NSW Department of Education and Training
The NSW Department of Education and Training delivers public education and training from early childhood through to Year 12, leading to the award of the NSW Higher School Certificate (in Years 11 and 12). It also provides TAFE NSW courses, adult and community education courses, migrant English programs, post-secondary art courses and advice to the NSW Government on higher education. The Department is particularly focused on addressing the training needs of industry and meeting the challenge of skills shortages in certain trades.

NSW Department of Primary Industries
The NSW Department of Primary Industries acts in partnership with industry and other public sector organisations to foster profitable and sustainable development of primary industries in New South Wales. The Department was formed in July 2004 with the amalgamation of Mineral Resources NSW, NSW Agriculture, NSW Fisheries and State Forests NSW and is the largest provider of science and research services within the NSW Government. The Department undertakes strategic science which underpins the growth, sustainability and biosecurity of primary industries in NSW.

NSW Department of Water and Energy
The NSW Department of Water and Energy was established in April 2007 to coordinate water and energy management in NSW under one cohesive agency. The Department provides policy, legislative, regulatory, technical and management advice in relation to water and energy matters to the Minister for Water and the Minister for Energy.

Botanic Gardens Trust
The Botanic Gardens Trust is a New South Wales State Government organisation within the Environment portfolio — under the Minister  for Climate Change, Environment and Water. The Trust conducts horticultural research, systematics research, ecology research and plant pathology research.

Zoological Parks Board of NSW
The Zoological Parks Board of NSW is a Government of New South Wales agency responsible for Taronga Zoo and the Western Plains Zoo in New South Wales , Australia. It sponsors a number of research centres, such as the Australian Marine Mammal Research Centre.
