NSW Science Communication Initiative

Science Knowledge

Science Seminar Series

The Science Seminar Series aims to communicate the value of scientific research to Parliament, industry and the general community in order to increase understanding and support for science and create meaningful dialogues between research sectors and business.

Science Conference Sponsorship Program

Enhancing the knowledge base of our scientific community and supporting mechanisms for the dissemination and sharing of that knowledge is an important component of the NSW Science Communication Initiative.

OSMR provides this support through its Conference Sponsorship Program, which provides direct support for major conference, symposiums, networks and workshops, in line with NSW Government priorities.

Conferences and workshops funded to date cover areas as diverse as stem cell research, bioethics, neuroscience, spectroscopy, cardiovascular disease and science innovation, as well as support for peak bodies such as Research Australia and the Australian Society for Medical Research.

See further details about the Conference Sponsorship Program.

Travel Scholarship Program

The NSW Government has established a dedicated fund to assist NSW researchers to attend national and international conferences in areas of strategic priority, including clinical trials, complementary medicine, stem cell research, commercialisation and sustainability technologies. Following their attendance at these conferences, successful applicants then participate in public forums and workshops to promote knowledge-sharing and facilitate the development of networks and collaborations.
